Established in 1980, Zoological Research (ZR) is a bimonthly, free open accessed publication produced by Kunming Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the China Zoological Society. It publishes peer-reviewed original research article/review/report/note/letter to the editor/editorial in English on Primates and Animal Models, Conservation and Utilization of Animal Resources, and Animal Diversity and Evolution.
ZR was recognized as one of the best core zoology periodicals in China; it was awarded the "100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China" (2018) and "The Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China" (Science/Technology/Medicine) (2019), and was selected as one of the 300 Outstanding S&T Journals of China (2017). ZR is supported by the grants of national programs in enhancing international impact of China STM journals (2016-2018; 2019-2023).
ZR has continually been reported by many influential national and international indexes including, but not limited to: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E), PubMed/MEDLINE/PubMed Central, Scopus, OAJI, DOAJ.
Under the leadership of our editor-in-chief, Dr/Prof Yong-Gang Yao, ZR currently has the excellent editorial board which has the members from many famous national, international institutions and universities.
