ANSO-World Mollisols Association- Chinese Research Council Successfully Established

On December 27, 2022, the Inaugural Meeting of ANSO-World Mollisols Association (ANSO-WMA)-Chinese Research Council (ANSO-WMA-CRC) and its first academic workshop was successfully held online. Over 200 representatives from 33 member institutions, including Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology (IGA)-Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Institute of Soil Science-CAS, China Agricultural University attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Prof. ZHANG Xingyi, Vice Chairman of ANSO-WMA, 
 
Prof. CAO Jinghua, Executive Director of the ANSO Secretariat, gave a brief account of what ANSO is, its mission, an overview of the important work that ANSO has done. He wishes the establishment of ANSO-WMA-CRC will promote the research of Mollisols both in China and the world, as well as enhance global cooperation. Prof. JIANG Ming, Director of IGA, also attended the meeting and gave remarks. 
 
Prof. LIU Xiaobing, Chairman of ANSO-WMA, introduced the history and development of ANSO-WMA and its achievements in promoting international cooperation in Mollisols research. He also explained the background, objectives, preliminary preparation of ANSO-WMA-CRC, announced the names of general advisors, advisors, president, vice presidents, secretary-general, deputy secretary-general, executive directors and directors of the ANSO-WMA-CRC, and pronounced the establishment of the organization.
 
Prof. ZHANG Ganlin, the first President of the ANSO-WMA-CRC, pointed out that the establishment of the ANSO-WMA-CRC would provide an excellent exchange platform for Chinese Mollisols researchers, which can not only introduce advanced international technologies to China, but also promote China's scientific experience and technology to countries along the "the Belt and Road". Prof. LIU Junjie, Deputy Secretary-General of the ANSO-WMA-CRC, read the "Constitution of the ANSO-WMA-CRC", and asked all members to carry out activities in strict accordance with the constitution.
 
In the academic exchange process, Prof. ZHU Yongguan, an Academician of CAS, and Prof. LI Baoguo from the China Agricultural University, separately presented lectures with the topic of "Environmental Security Issues of Mollisols Protection and Utilization" and "Coordinated Implementation of Conservation Tillage and High Standard Farmland Construction is Required for Mollisols Degradation Prevention and Fertility Improvement". All participants benefited a lot from the lectures. 
 
The meeting also discussed the future development mode, goals and overall framework of the ANSO-WMA-CRC, and several constructive comments were put forward. Prof. ZHANG Ganlin indicated that the advice from the experts would be seriously considered and the ANSO-WMA-CRC will focus on Mollisols research, unite the Chinese Mollisols researchers, carry out its work within the overall framework, identify its mission, and target at both national needs and international scientific frontier. With the efforts of all members, ANSO-WMA-CRC will form its own products and brands, enhance the international influence of the Chinese Mollisols researchers, and protect and utilize the Mollisols resources well.
