Beijing, 19 May 2025—Prof. Bai Chunli, Founding President of ANSO and Former President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), welcomed Prof. Marius Andruh, Vice President of the Romanian Academy (RA), at the CAS headquarters in Beijing. The meeting aimed to deepen collaboration between ANSO and RA.
Prof. Bai thanked Prof. Andruh for the warm hospitality RA gave during his visit to Romania last August. As a follow-up activity to that visit, a Sino-Romanian Science Forum was successfully held at the end of 2024. Prof. Bai highly praised this collaborative action. He expressed hope that RA could send a delegation to attend the 4th General Assembly of ANSO as well as the ANSO General Conference on Science & Innovation for a Sustainable Future, which are scheduled to take place in Beijing in October 2025.
Prof. Liu Weidong, Executive Director of ANSO and Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation (BIC) of CAS, provided updates on ANSO’s latest developments. He introduced CAS-ANSO programs and upcoming events this year, and encouraged active engagement of Romanian scientists.
Prof. Andruh thanked ANSO and CAS for the meeting, and expressed keen interest in the CAS-ANSO programs 2025, particularly the conference and fellowship programs. He noted that RA’s affiliated institutes had been informed of the open calls and were in preparation for submitting applications.
The issue of short-term secondment opportunity to the ANSO Secretariat was also raised and addressed.
Representatives from the ANSO Secretariat and BIC participated in the meeting.
