“Integrated Water Safety Management and Projection of Extreme Events in International Rivers in China” Project, led by Prof. Tang Qiuhong of IGSNRR, focuses on the key issues of water security management and projection of extreme events scenarios in transboundary river basins, adapting to climate change and the impacts of socio-economic development activities in transboundary rivers, and aims to develop and enhance the innovation and development of remote sensing monitoring and early warning technologies to support scientific and efficient applications for disaster prevention and control. The program aims to bring together multi-source data, coupled with large scale distributed hydrological-hydrodynamic modelling technologies, build a high-resolution risk monitoring system, to predict the extreme events under climate change, to promote adaptation to climate change, and to enhance the cooperation strategy of water security in different regions and meet the requirement for economic and social development under climate change. The endorsement of this project is of milestone significance, marking that the international project team, supported by ANSO, has taken another key and solid step in deepening the collaboration in science and technology innovation and promoting sustainable development, and promoting the high-quality development of international scientific and technological cooperation with innovative practices.
