CAS-ANSO Conference Program 2025 -Call for Applications-

1. Introduction
The CAS-ANSO Conference Program is a joint initiative launched by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO). Designed to foster international scientific collaboration, the program empowers ANSO members to organize high-impact seminars/ symposia/forums/workshops across diverse scientific disciplines. By creating a dynamic platform for researchers, institutions, and policymakers from ANSO member countries and beyond, the initiative aims to catalyze knowledge exchange, spark interdisciplinary dialogue, and advance collaborative research addressing global and regional challenges. The theme for CAS-ANSO Conference Program 2025 is Sustainable Water, Food, Environment & Ecosystem

2. Priority areas
• Water security and safety
• Food security and agricultural resilience
• Sustainability of the environment and ecosystems
• Innovation & Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the above-mentioned purposes
 
[NOTE] Proposed meetings must focus on science-driven topics advancing sustainable and high-quality development goals. Priority will be given to proposals addressing the above priority areas during the review process.

3. Funding
3.1 Location & Timing
Proposed meetings must be held outside the Chinese mainland and take place in 2026.

3.2 Format
Events may be organized as standalone conferences or integrated as parallel sessions/side events within high-level scientific conferences or forums.

3.3 Leading Host Institution (Proponent’s Affiliation):
The Leading Host Institution (Proponent’s Affiliation) must be an ANSO member organization outside the Chinese mainland. CAS-ANSO funds will be exclusively allocated to the Leading Host Institution for administrative and logistical coordination.

3.4 Co-host(s)
At least one co-host institution must be an ANSO member organization. Preference will be given to proposals where the co-host is based in a different country than the Leading Host Institution.

3.5 Person in Charge
The designated organizer must hold an active affiliation with the Leading Host Institution and oversee the event’s planning and execution.

3.6 Scale
a. On-site participation: Minimum of 50 attendees, including speakers, moderators, and audience members. 
b. Virtual engagement: Strongly encouraged to provide virtual participation options to broaden reach and impact.

3.7 Speakers
a. Independent events: Minimum of 10 speakers.
b. Parallel sessions/side events: Minimum of 6 speakers.
c. Diversity: Proposals must ensure balanced representation in terms of gender and geographical distribution (e.g., speakers from multiple countries/regions).

4.Funding
4.1 The program provides financial support of up to $40,000 USD per event. Final funding amounts will be determined based on factors including the event’s duration, scale, location, and modality among other considerations.
4.2 Applicants are strongly encouraged to secure additional funding sources, such as co-funding partnerships, in-kind contributions, or supplementary resources. Proposals demonstrating diversified funding will be prioritized during the selection process.

5. Application Process
Please review the Call for Applications thoroughly to ensure compliance with all requirements.

5.1 Implementation Plan Submission
The leading host must submit a detailed implementation plan (template provided in Appendix 1), developed through preliminary discussions and formal agreement with all co-host(s).

5.2 Joint Letter of Commitment
A joint letter signed by the heads or authorized representatives of both the leading host and co-host(s) must accompany the application.

5.3 Evidence of additional funding sources
If additional funding sources are available, documented evidence must be submitted (template provided in Appendix 2).

5.4 Submission Limits
Each ANSO member organization may serve as the leading host institution for a maximum of 2 proposals.

5.5 Submission Deadline
All required documents must be emailed to conference@anso.org.cn by May 31, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.

6.Selection Process
6.1 All proposals are initially screened by the ANSO Secretariat to ascertain their eligibility.
6.2 Only those proposals deemed eligible will be reviewed by international experts.
6.3 All applicants will be informed of the results of their proposals via email.

Notes: 
1. It should be noted that any alterations to the leading host institution and the co-host(s) from the ANSO member organizations are not permitted during the implementation phase.
