19 04, 2023
On April 13, 2023, the research team of ANSO collaborative research project entitled “Integrated Flood Services and Climate Change Adaptation for the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) River Basin” participated in the international workshop on Building Resilience to Water-Related Hazards. More than 100 experts and specialists from mainland China, Hongkong (China), United States, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Vietnam, Nepal and Norway attended the workshop.
Assistant Professor Binod Baniya from Tribhuvan University, research group member, gave keynote speech entitled “Evaluation of Cascading Flood Extreme and Climate Change in Melamchi Watershed, Himalaya Sub-basin in Nepal”. He introduced societal challenges due to increasing flood events caused by global climate change in the Melamchi Watershed and the scientific frontier in evaluating flood resilience in this region. The research outcome plays an active role in flood disaster prevention and promotes climate change adaptation in relevant "Belt and Road" countries and regions by providing disaster information services in the Himalaya Sub-basin in Nepal.
