ANSO Collaborative Research

ANSO collaborative research will be jointly initiated and supported by ANSO members, institutes, universities and international organizations focusing on hotspots and urgent issues related to environmental change, green development, human wellbeing and sustainable development. The following are special focus areas:

Scientific Research Orientations: Climate Change and Adaptation, Natural Disaster, Water Resource and Water Security, Air Pollution and Human Health, Ecosystem and Biodiversity, Combating Desertification, Energy Security, S&T Policy and Strategy on Sustainable Development, and Big Data.

Human Well-being Orientations: Agriculture and Food Security, Public Health, Poverty Alleviation, Disaster reduction, and Technology Transfer.

"Regional Forum on Geospatial Information Applications for Resilient Agriculture in South-East Asia" Was Successfully Held in Kunming

From November 27 to December 1, 2023, the "Regional Forum on Geospatial Information Applications for Resilient Agriculture in South-East Asia" was successfully held in Kunming, Yunnan. The seminar was co-hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO), the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIR-CAS), the Geoinformatics and Space Technology Development Agency of Thailand (GISTDA), and the ASEAN Regional Training Center for Space Technology and Applications (ARTSA).

High-level Delegation from Tribhuvan University in Nepal Visited Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Discussed Progress of ANSO MISSPAD

On the afternoon of October 18, a high-level delegation from Tribhuvan University (TU) in Nepal visited the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) at the invitation of Prof. Qing Bao, co-lead of the ANSO MISSPAD project. The delegation included Prof. Shiva Lal Bhusal, Rector of TU, Prof. Bir Bahadur Khanal Chhetri, Dean of the Institute of Forestry (IOF)-TU, Prof. Bishnu Prasad Khanal, Executive Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate (MED)-TU, Prof. Deepak Aryal, Academician of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology and also Head of the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (CDHM)-TU, and Associate Prof. Binod Dawadi, Deputy Director of Kathmandu Center for Research and Education (KCRE)-CAS.

South-South Cooperation Empowers Food Security: Training Workshop on Customized CropWatch for Nigeria Successfully Held

From October 9 to 13, 2023, the “Training workshop on customized CropWatch for Nigeria” was successfully held in Abuja, capital of Nigeria. This training event was jointly organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIRCAS), and the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). 32 government officials and experts from nine Nigerian departments, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, NASRDA, the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET), the Sustainable Development Goals Agency, and the National Bureau of Statistics, participated in the training.

International Workshop on Environmental Dimension of Antimicrobial Resistance under One Health was Successfully Held

The International Workshop on Environmental Dimension of Antimicrobial Resistance (EDAR) under One Health, was successfully held from 26th to 28th Sep, 2023. More than 40 scientists from over ten countries along the Belt and Road, including Poland, Slovenia, Pakistan, Thailand, Iran, Denmark, United Kingdom, Singapore, Switzerland, and Australia gathered at the Ningbo Academic Center to discuss the environmental effects, risk assessment, and other biosafety issues related to antibiotic resistance within the framework of One Health.

ANSO Supported Project's Research Capacity Building Training commenced in Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu

Research capacity building training on 'data analysis and scientific paper writing' took place in Kathmandu from September 4 to 10, 2023. The training aimed to enhance the research capacity of junior faculties and PhD scholars and was supported by the ANSO Collaborative Research Project entitled' “Assessing Households’ Adaptive Capacity to Climate Change in the Diverse Socio-Cultural and Geographical Landscape of South Asia” led by Prof. Prem S. Chapagain of the Central Department of Geography, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. The Central Department of Geography (CDG), Tribhuvan University (TU), and Kathmandu Center for Research and Education, Chinese Academy of Science (KCRE-CAS) jointly organized the training.

Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research Implemented ANSO Joint Project in Far East of Russia

From August 13 to 27, Prof. WANG Juanle and his team from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) carried out academic exchanges and field trips in the Far East region of Russia to implement tasks of the ANSO collaborative research project entitled "Optimal Allocation of Cultivated land Resources in Heilongjiang transboundary watersheds for SDG2 (Zero Hunger)". The team visited its collaborating organizations, including the Institute of Pacific Geography of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Water and Ecological Problems of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute for Complex Analysis of Regional Problems of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The joint project team also carried out surveys of cultivated land in the basin with Russian experts.
